Frequently Asked Questions

How many applicants will be accepted?
35 artists, 4 writers, and 3 merch artists. The mod team will account for an additional 4 artists and 1 writer, making the total 39 artists and 5 writers. With the merch artists, that makes a full contributor list of 47 people.
What merch will there be?
We are presently looking to include charms and a sticker sheet!
What will be expected of contributors?
- Artists: With 39 artists, this now means that all artists will be asked to do 2 cards each so we can get the full 78 card tarot deck.
- Writers: With the exception of the project admin who will be working on the 22 cards of the major arcana, writers will be assigned one card suit each from the minor arcana and be asked to complete descriptions for the 14 cards in their suit, no longer than a paragraph in length.
- Merch Artists: We’ll be looking for 2 artists who can make 2 charms each, and 1 artist to create a sticker sheet.
Can traditional artists apply?
Yes, however a high quality scan of your work would be required.
Will artists and writers be on the same schedule?
No. Writers will be preparing the card descriptions for the artists to follow, therefore all writers must have at least a general idea of their descriptions before the artists can get started. There will be check-ins to ensure everyone’s progress.
Can artists and writers work together?
If you’re an artist with ideas for the tarot and there’s a writer who would appreciate your input, of course!
Do you have to have knowledge of tarot in order to apply?
No! There are numerous websites where you can look up the meanings of tarot cards, so having pre-existing knowledge is not a requirement.
Will this project be for profit or non profit?
It’s been thought over and we’ve decided this will be a for profit project.
How old do you have to be to apply?
Because this project is for profit, that means you must be 18+ in order to apply.
Will contributors receive free copies of the tarot?
If our budget allows, contributors will be compensated with a full bundle.
Will contributors be allowed to share their work in other places?
Contributors have full ownership of their work, however outside of previews, we will ask that you do not share your full work until after the project’s completion.
